No more college classes, no more finals, exams, papers, homework assignments. Ever again. Graduation is on Saturday and I am beyond excited. I came home Friday and will be going back Wednesday for my sorority bar crawl. Then graduation Saturday…which I cannot believe, after 7 years of waiting, is finally here. I’ll be a graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management.
After graduation, i’m gonna start a small pile or bucket to pack the small things I see throughout the summer. I’m starting work on June 5th, but I haven’t picked my last day of work, but i’m going to try and work as late as possible and still pack. As soon as August hits, i’m going to be packing more and more.
I’ll be flying down to my suite mate August 17th, and her, her mom and myself are driving from her home in West Palm Beach to Orlando on the 19th, staying at a hotel and then most likely meeting at 4:30am-5:00am to get in line so we can definitely get our 6 person apartment!
So excited!
Officially finished my last college class this morning. I don’t think it’s really hit me, but after seeing that some of my Disney friends are checking in this month, it’s getting more surreal.
The fact that I’ve come this far, finally graduating after all I’ve been through. All the struggles in school, transferring and changing majors. I graduate in 12 days. Wow. Seven years in the making. Most graduates walking with me are 21 or 22..but i’m 24 and turning 25 in 3 months. To me, it doesn’t matter it took me this long, more importantly, I did it. Rather then dropping out after struggling and changing majors and dealing with so much more throughout my college journey, I kept with it. I took summer classes, changed schools to adjust to a major change. I moved out of state for my final year and a half, joined a sorority and met some of the most amazing women that will forever be my sisters, best friends, and in my heart.
In exactly 12 days I graduate from the University of Delaware. In exactly 77 days I turn a half century old. In exactly 95 days I fly to West Palm Beach to meet my suitemate/roommate. In exactly 98 days I check in to the most magical place on earth, Walt Disney World, to work as an attractions cast member until January 4th of 2013, and hopefully extended or receive a Professional Internship or land a permanent job position.
One class down, 2 to go! Econ and my HRIM class are left. Last late night at Vita Nova (student run restaurant for senior practicum). SO EXCITED! No more late Wednesday Thursday or Friday nights cooking or serving from 3-10!
Just had my send-off party for the Program and it was awesome. There were about 4 reps there, 3 of which are going back down for professional internships. There are a total of 20 going from my school, which is awesome. Apparently none of them know about the facebook group to look for roommates so when I mentioned I had mine, they were extremely confused. I told them to look up the group and find roommates on there, but that were unlikely to get matched at this point in the wait.
There were a mix of majors and roles. Those that attended and from what I remembered, were 1 merch, 2 attractions, 3 hospitality one of which is a MI. There are 2 other PI’s going, and I only know one and she is HR something, it’s an odd title.
It got more a lot more excited, and defintiely got me in the mood to make sure I do all my work to graduate and make sure I get down there. I’m beyond excited, minus leaving my boyfriend of 3 years. It’s going to be very difficult. I hope he can come visit me sometimes, especially during Christmas, since my reps say thats the cheapest time with our discounts to go down.
The more it get’s closer to graduation, the harder its going to be to hold my anticipation. I still don’t know how to deal with the family and boyfriend separation but my reps assured me i’ll be fine.
Went to the craft store to get scrapbooking material for the DG senior book, ended up looking mostly at Disney stuff they had. So tempting!
I have never gotten so much work done until I put on my Disney Pandora. I guess Disney solves all problems :-)
